Showers of Updates for April
On Wednesday, April 9, The PFA held their monthly board meeting. The first item on the agenda was to swear in the officers for the 2008-2009 school year. We will be seeing many new faces as well as some veterans (I didn't want to say "old" faces!) leading the way next year:
Co-Presidents-Kelli Cody and Becky Beilfuss
Executive Vice President-Deanne Callahan
Vice-President-Diane Hoge
Secretary-Julie Reidy
Treasurer-Anne Peterson
These officers will be swarn in at the May PFA meeting, when they will take over their positions.

ANNUAL STUDENT-FACULTY BASKETBALL GAME AT IJHS!
Friday, April 18 at 6:30
Please join the students and staff for this always-exciting event. There will be surprising games as well as the ever-popular split-the pot! This is the only fundraiser for IJHS during the year, so they would really appreciate your support.
FUNDRAISING NEWS:
The Fundraising Committee for next year will be Co-Chaired by Jenny Landers and Donna Pawlak. They are always looking for new fundraising ideas as well as for feedback concerning those fundraisers which are already in place. A survey was sent home to all district families, asking for your input in planning for next year. Please fill those out and return them to your child's school as quickly as possible. If you no longer have the survey, feel free to jot down any suggestions on paper and send them to their attention. Thank you

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
WELCOME TO 2008!
The PFA welcomed in the New Year with a meeting on January 9th at the district office. We are getting ready for an exciting beginning to the second half of this school year, including many activities for both students and their families!
We want you to remember to save the important date of SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 9TH FOR THE ANNUAL DISTRICT FUN FAIR. This year the fair will include a reptile show!
OTHER NEWS FROM THE MEETING:
All of our principals want to thank the families who supported our toy drive for Worth Township. Each year, Worth Township relies on our district to help out during the holidays , when many families are struggling. As usual, we did our best and filled many boxes to donate to this cause.
Indian Hill Preschool will be holding it's second preschool screening for any children, who are at least 3 years old and living within our district boundaries.
You may call the school for an appointment: 597-1285.
You may also call this number if you are interested in enrolling a preschooler for the 2008/2009 school year. Information Packets may be obtined on this date as well (Monday, January 14th).
Independence Junior High is kicking off its Boys Basketball Season with their first home game on Thursday, January 10th. Two more games will follow on January 15th and 17th, so there is plenty of opportunity to come out and support the team!
January also brings us Cheerleading Competition, so we want to wish our IJHS Cheerleaders the best of luck!
Congratulations to all of our published authors, whose works can be found in the 20th Anniversary edition of a journal for Illinois writing. Taylor Palmer, a graduate from last year, placed 1st . We had 2 finalists: Renee Habal and Brianna Wallace, as well as honorable mentions: Mike Brouette, Mackenzie Cody, Linnea Couture, Maggie Richardson, and Cody Starosta.
